Connect Your Sure Host Domain to site.vu

Connecting your domain name takes about five minutes. This guide helps you set up Sure Host so your marketing assistant can display your online showcase. Showing your proof of work helps you win local quotes without extra admin or physical labour.

Step 1: Get Your Verification Details from site.vu

  1. Log into your site.vu dashboard.
  2. Click Custom Domain in the menu.
  3. Type in your domain name (for example, yourbusiness.com).
  4. Copy the unique TXT record code shown on your screen. You need this code to prove you own the domain.

Step 2: Log into Sure Host and Find DNS Settings

  1. Open the Sure Host website and log into your account.
  2. Go to your Client Area or Control Panel.
  3. Click Domains and select your domain name.
  4. Click Manage DNS, DNS Zone Editor, or DNS Records.

Step 3: Add the Verification TXT Record

  1. Click Add New Record in your Sure Host DNS panel.
  2. Choose TXT as the record type.
  3. Enter @ in the Name or Host field.
  4. Paste the verification code from site.vu into the Value or Content field.
  5. Click Save or Add Record.

This step proves ownership so your marketing department can safely link your web address.

Step 4: Add the CNAME Record for www

  1. Look for an existing record named www in your DNS list.
  2. If you see a www record, click Edit. If not, click Add New Record.
  3. Select CNAME as the record type.
  4. Set the Name or Host field to www.
  5. Set the Target or Points To field to fallback.site.vu.
  6. Set the TTL to Automatic (or 3600).
  7. Click Save.

This sends visitors who type [www.yourbusiness.com](https://www.yourbusiness.com) straight to your photos of completed jobs.

Step 5: Point Your Root Domain (yourbusiness.com)

  1. Click Add New Record in your Sure Host panel.
  2. Choose CNAME (if Sure Host supports CNAME flattening) or A Record.
  3. Enter @ in the Name or Host field.
  4. Point the target to fallback.site.vu (or the IP address shown in your site.vu dashboard).
  5. Click Save.

Visitors who skip typing www will now reach your site without any issues.

Step 6: Save Your Domain in site.vu

  1. Return to your site.vu dashboard.
  2. Go to Settings and click Custom Domain.
  3. Type [www.yourbusiness.com](https://www.yourbusiness.com) and click Save Custom Domain.

What Happens Next?

  • Connection Time: DNS changes usually update across the UK in 15 to 30 minutes. Full updates can take up to 24 hours.
